The First Office Partnership
Building Pathways, Together
The First Office is committed to expanding access to public service careers—starting in Los Angeles.
As we lay the groundwork for our first student cohort, we’re actively seeking collaborative partnerships with community colleges and public service organizations across the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) and the broader San Fernando Valley. We believe that when campuses, civic leaders, and public institutions come together, we can help students access life-changing experiences that prepare them to serve, lead, and thrive in public life.
We are developing partnerships in two main areas...
Community Colleges:
We’re working with Los Angeles community colleges to build an internship access pipeline rooted in equity, mentorship, and student development.
We’re especially looking to collaborate with:
- Career services teams
- Faculty and department leadership
- Honors and equity-focused programs
- Student support initiatives
Public Service Employers:
We’re also developing partnerships with public agencies and civic organizations that serve the Los Angeles region. These include:
- City council and mayoral offices
- California state legislative offices (Assembly/Senate)
- Congressional district offices
- Unions, grassroots nonprofits, and policy groups
- Legal aid and community-based organizations
The First Office gave me my first real shot at working in a city council office. I was nervous at first, but the mentorship and training helped me grow fast. That internship changed how I saw myself—and now I’m applying to transfer with a clear goal to work in local government.

We collaborate closely with our partners, offering clear expectations, open communication, and student preparation resources—working side by side to help shape the next generation of civic leaders.
